BIOGRAPHY
Simon took up the guitar at the age of 15, brought up in a house full of musicians he was exposed to everything from Mahavishnu, to Buddy Rich and Joe Pass. Quickly Simon gravitated towards funk and jazz, studying players like Mike Stern and John Scofield, and becoming a huge fan of Allan Holdsworth. Simon, being a multi-instrumentalist, also played Trumpet, Piano, Drums and Bass. He enrolled at the Leeds College of Music, Studying through post graduate level on drums and guitar, specialising in Jazz. Since graduating Simon has carved out a reputation as a technical and uncompromising jazz guitarist and multi-instrumentalist producer, involved in musical projects as diverse as The Drifters Tour, producing music for Scott’s Bass Lessons and building a reputation as one of the stand out jazz guitarists in the UK & Europe. He garners a following as a player online producing a highly regarded series of backing tracks, and in ‘real life’, winning the Musician’s Union Outstanding Musician Award twice, touring and recording with his Organ Trio featuring Jim Bashford and Matt Ratcliffe, and involvement in countless ensembles as a sideman.
